Meet Our Interns: A bit about life at SMB
At SMB, we’re proud to have an intern program in which we provide our interns with real-life work experience and exposure to the inner workings of a CPA firm. In January, we welcomed two interns into our office – meet Maxwell and Brenden. They’ve been working hard, learning a lot, and having a bit of fun, too.
Today we’re sharing out a few highlights about them and their experiences at SMB so far.
Maxwell, Junior at Drury University
What is your major: Accounting & Finance
Tell us about the highlight of your internship so far: I’ve appreciated how much exposure we’ve had to actual real work – it’s fantastic! I have several friends with internships who are just running errands, and we’re doing real work, which I appreciate.
Did you always know you wanted to go into accounting?: I’ve always been good with numbers, and I wanted to do something in business. I knew people in this field and it sparked my interest.
Brenden, Sophomore at Missouri State University
What is your major: Accounting & Business Analysis
Tell us about the highlight of your internship so far: I’ve always wondered what it would be like in a real CPA firm compared to working on assignments in school. There’s been a lot of support and help here at SMB, which we appreciate. I also love the camaraderie; there’s a great work culture and environment here. Everyone is helpful.
What do you plan to do after school: I’d like to go into public accounting.
Maxwell and Brenden will be here through April 15th, working with us all the way through tax season. Stay tuned as we check back in with them towards the end of their internships to see what other insights they’ve learned.
