Reflecting on 2023: Things that Made us Most Proud
In the bustling day-to-day, we’re constantly juggling the twists and turns of ever-changing tax codes, keeping pace with deadlines, and chasing after our business dreams—all while rooting for the success of our clients. But, you know what? Amidst all the hustle, we also take a moment to look back and appreciate what made us beam with pride this past year, both in our professional and personal lives. Because, let’s face it, celebrating wins is just as important as tackling challenges. So, without any more suspense, let’s dive into the moments that brought a big ol’ grin to our faces this year.
- Chris Myers: I am proud of our young staff who have continued to take on projects and excel at them during the day while also studying at night to pass their CPA exams. It shows the dedication to furthering their career with SMB and I know that it is not easy on them and their families. I appreciate their hard work and it makes me proud!
- Maxwell Niemeyer: I have a few things I would say I’m most proud of for 2023. The first would be getting married back in August. That was very exciting and I am proud to be a married man now. The next would be making it through my first tax season as a full-time staff member. While challenging and demanding at times, it was a big sigh of relief once we made it through. The final thing I’m proud of in 2023 was passing the remaining CPA exams and becoming licensed as a CPA officially.
- Catherine Sanders: I am most proud of all the hard work we put into the new space, from layout to decorating it. We really transformed this place!
- Jake Sanders: I am most proud of how we all worked together in 2023 to move into our new space. Our working conditions were less than ideal for several months but I think everyone would agree it was worth it. 2023 was a really big growth year for SMB both in terms of revenue and in our infrastructure and ability to service our clients going forward.
- Brenden Schroeder: Graduating with my undergrad in accounting and passing two sections of the CPA exam are things I’m proud of this year.
- Matt Blackwell: I am most proud of our staff this year. We had a lot of changes in 2023. With the new building, they were forced to work a few months all huddled up together. They did a great job during that time until we could get the offices and construction completed.
- Nick Pyatt: I am most proud of our firm’s ability to take care of our clients while going through an office move and construction.
- Moriah Clapp: I am most proud of how I managed to balance part-time work, classes, and extracurriculars this past year!
